Took the 20.55 train from my home town of Kirk Sandall 6 miles from
Doncaster . Then Board the 21:05 train to London Kings Cross. From Kings
cross I proceed to the thames links and catch the 11 30 pm approx train
to Gatwick. I arrive at Gatwick around 1am in the morning.
Tuesday 20th March 2007 .
Flight 1495 USAirways to Charlotte Take off over an hour late. 11:35
am . Good flight and arrive in charlotte about 4:00 pm local time. Then
flight 1593 from Charlotte 5:45pm to Orlando arrive in orlando at about
7:20 pm Stay in Wynfield Inn Orlando Convention Center for 2 nights .
Well 2 nights getting into the time zone etc before my Long Journey .
Wednesday 21st March 2007
A day of relaxing and looking at various options It was around here I
found out all flights from Orlando to Detroit were all booked up so I
was Forced to proceed with the long road trip. I looked at my USA trips
software on my computer and planned with that .
Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd March 2007
After a nice shower and check out I set off for a town in Michigan
IMLAY I arrive in IMLAY
Late Friday night 23rd after driving through the night . Below are
the exact timings where I filled up along the way. I will write more
detail when I get home .
1:- Orlando Florida12:09 pm 22nd
2:- Valdosta Georgia 6:31pm 22nd
3:- Gainesville Georgia 12:42 am 23rd
4:- Clinton Tennessee 8:07 am 23rd
5:- Vandalia Ohio 2:23 pm 23rd
Arrive IMLAY around 10pm stay in super 8 Motel .
Saturday 24th March
Fill up again in
6:-Imlay Michigan at 10:48 am 24th
for my trip to Owendale MI
I arrive in Owendale at about 12:15pm
Instead of a few hours I had planned I stayed for over 4 hours .
5:00pm Set off for Port Huron to cross over Canada to see some old
friends who had left our
village of Kirk Sandall in 1987 .
6:- Woodstock Ontario 7:38 pm 24th
I arrive in Burlington Finally at the right address at 10:55pmAfter
some fantastic first class Hospitality , Again I did not like to leave
but I had to the return leg of my trip was still to do.
Sunday 25th March
After a fantastic tour of Burlington and breakfast I was on my way to
the Niagra Falls
7:-Hornett New York 9:19pm 25th
Stop in a Super 8 Motel Pittston arrive at 1:00 am 26th about 5 hours
drive to Washington DC
I had decided that due to time and my need to get back to Florida
that NEW YORK would have to be missed out . I was thinking about it
right up until the turn off then headed for Washington so that I could
relax a bit more and enjoy the drive.
8:- Pittston Pennsylvania 10::04 am
Arrive in Washington DC at around 3:00pm Typing this in hotel after a
great afternoon seeing the Capital of the USA . Cant wait to upload some
pics IF ONLY I HAD BROUGHT THE RIGHT LEAD.
